Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q: Authentic Southern Barbecue in Huntsville, AL

I’d give Jim & Nick a solid experience overall. Our server was very nice and friendly, even though a few things were forgotten along the way. Unfortunately, they had run out of potatoes, and they were also out of deviled eggs, which was a bit disappointing. Still, the service attitude was positive, and the place has a good vibe. While it wasn’t a five-star visit for me, I’d be open to coming back and giving it another try, hoping for a more consistent experience next time.

It's a great sign when you can actually see and smell the smoke from the barbecue cooker outback. And the taste comes through in the meat! The baked potatoes are as big as your foot. Roving servers ensure that every need is met as you chow down on this delicious 'Q. Plenty of covered outdoor seating away from traffic. Since this is a new spot, obviously everything is sparkling and clean. We will definitely be back!

We came the day after Thanksgiving this year and it was amazing! The weight staff was very friendly and willing to help each other out with their tables. If you order the barbecue potato, just know it is ginormous! The food was fantastic. There was booth and table seating available. There is a full bar available with bar seating

Walking into the restaurant, the first thing that stood out was the lack of any wait. Even during what should’ve been a busy time, I was seated immediately, which already set the visit off on the right foot. The staff was genuinely attentive from the moment I sat down — checking in without hovering, answering questions, and making sure everything was taken care of before I even had to ask. What really surprised me was how fast the food came out. From placing my order to seeing the tray hit the table, it couldn’t have been more than five minutes. Not the rushed, thrown-together kind of fast — more like a kitchen that actually knows what they’re doing. The plate itself was a full spread. I ordered pulled pork, Carolina-style pulled pork, and a jalapeño cheddar sausage, and everything looked as good as it tasted. The pulled pork was tender and soaked up the sauce beautifully, the Carolina pulled pork had that tangy, vinegar-driven flavor that hits differently and gives each bite a clean, sharp finish, and the jalapeño cheddar sausage stole the show — browned perfectly, juicy inside, with just the right kick of heat and creamy pockets of cheese. The sides tied everything together: crisp, seasoned fries served upright in a metal cup, smoky collard greens with bits of meat mixed in, and a few pickle slices that added that classic BBQ crunch and tang. The whole tray looked like a proper Southern comfort spread — generous portions, no unnecessary decoration, just solid, satisfying food. Overall, it was a quick, smooth, and delicious experience from start to finish. Between the no-wait seating, the lightning-fast service, and the quality of the meal, this place is definitely worth coming back to.

We were able to get in quickly. Ordering process was simple. Food was served quickly and was delicious!! Portions were a good size and pricing was affordable! Keep it up!!

I had the great opportunity to participate in one of the two quality checks of the daily cuisines at Jim and Nicks. By far they out rank the other local BBQ restaurants in Huntsville. From the hospitality of the employees to the tenderness of the slow cooked meats, they completely and without doubt out rank the competition in Huntsville. Best catfish sandwich in Huntsville!!

If you haven't tried them out, you're missing out! Went tonight for the first time and everything we had was really good! It's counter service but there are a lot of nice people in the dining area keeping the flow going and getting you whatever you need. The food was excellent and the staff were really nice! That's a win win in my opinion! Will definitely be back and totally recommend!

First trip here...welcome to the neighborhood! Great vibe and neat bar with inside and outdoor seating. Service was great and food was great. Thank you for a good meal and taking care of us. We appreciate you.
